Solving Contest for NYPS Beginner Players

This contest is reserved to NYPS chess players who are club members and are currently engaged in the beginner classes (P1-P3). Each term there will be 5 puzzles constructed based on the Nanyang Primary School's mission acronym "MILES". Below are the 5 puzzles for Term 1:

Hint: All winning moves are made on one of the squares highlighted with yellow in each diagram and symbolizing the first letter of the five NYP school values.

For each correct answer, the participant will receive 5 chess miles. In Term 4, the winner will be the one who collected the greatest number of chess miles. In case of a tie, a lucky draw will decide the winner. The top prize will be a "NYPS Chess Miles 2009" Trophy.
