Nanyang Primary School has a special Chess Corner located nearby the canteen (see the photo gallery below). Here the fans of mind sports in the school may relax by playing chess, Xiangqi or Weiqi during recess time. Additionally, a large-size chess set resides in the P3-courtyard. It is often used by pupils to engage in a casual chess game.

During recess time, NYPS pupils may attend the following activities that are organized regularily at the chess corner:

Discussions & debates on various opening lines
Sharing of tricky & fun opening ideas
Small team matches
Puzzle-solving competitions
Discuss the activities of the chess club or CCA (Chess) matters
Rules of Play @ the Chess Corner
The pupils using the chess corner for (chess, weiqi or xiangqi) games during recess time, are advised to download the guidelines that apply in the place.
Announcements
The decorating walls of the chess corner also serve as support for various announcements and ads dealing with the activities of the NYPS Chess Club. It will be useful to check them carefully on weekly basis.
